Wrapped in His arms

I listened intently as the radio announcer told the story of the Kids Foundation kids attending the Lion King production. In my mind’s eye, I could see the nine year old boy turn around to check on his wheelchair bound younger brother, who was scared by the show. My heart was touched as the announcer told of this brother leaving the front row in order in to find his brother amongst the row of other wheelchair bound children. The announcer continued, this nine year old, came up from behind his brother, wrapped his arms around him and whispered into his ear there was no need to be afraid. Then throughout the remainder of the show, the older brother kept his wrapped arms around the younger child.

Friends, I don’t know what you might be facing this evening. However, there are women I work with as well as friends from home who are facing some frightening circumstances. In fact, there are things in my own life, that when I look at them from a human perspective, they overwhelm and frighten me. Then I think of this nine year old boy!

Jesus holdingWhat a visual.  Isn’t what he did for his brother, the same as what God does for us? When we are so frightened by the appearance of things in front of us, God comes alongside, wraps his arms around us and assures us everything will be alright; there is no need to fear.

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
